Wearable Art
Kalief’s journey didn’t begin with galleries or stretched canvas. It started with clothing and shoes worn on the street, in classrooms, and through the city by the people around him. Wearable art was his first vehicle for visibility a way to ensure his work wasn’t hidden behind doors but moved through the world in real time. For three years, he painted garments and sneakers, creating pieces no one else had and designing work that demanded a second look. That early practice shaped his understanding of art as something to be experienced, not just observed. Today, he blends fine art with fashion to create timeless, expressive pieces that can be worn, displayed, or both.
“I wanted my art in the world, so I turned people into walking art pieces .”
